October 12, 2017 C-SPAN News http://MOXNews.com Energy Secretary Rick Perry testified before a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on his agency's priorities. At the start of the hearing, Secretary Perry defended his use of private and government planes for official business saying such trips are sometimes necessary to do his job. In addition, he defended an Energy Department proposal sent to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) which seeks to subsidize the nuclear and coal industries. Other topics addressed included energy innovation, nuclear waste storage and Energy Department efforts to restore power to Puerto Rico and other islands impacted by Hurricane Maria. The Department of Energy will not appeal last month's judgement on nuclear energy. The Western Cape High Court ruled in favour of Earthlife, and set aside all nuclear deals with South Africa, declaring them unlawful and unconstitutional.
